Wondering how all this design stuff works? Let me take you through our design process so you’ll know what the next steps look like, and to put you at ease in your quest to create your new brand or website.
What we do: we are a design agency, helping startups, small businesses and entrepreneurs communicate through the use of creative design. A logo design, web design, a naming or renaming process, reviewing your copy and messaging to make sure you’re reaching the right people… all or any of these things are under the scope of what we can do for you depending on what your situation calls for.
DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM
Typically, how we find out what we are going to work on is by going through an on-boarding process (some people call this a discovery process) to figure out what you need. It’s a series of conversations to give us a better understanding and good sense of what you do and the value you bring to your customers. It’s about figuring out where you are now and where you’d like your business to be in the future. We want to figure out what will help accomplish your long term goals and not waste your time and money on things you don’t need. To do that, we need to make sure we are doing strategic work, and strategic work requires us to be thoughtful.
Once this discovery process happens (typically 1 or 2 Skype conversations, or meet-ups ) then we’ll put together a proposal with deliverables, timeline, pricing, payment schedule and terms.
We offer project pricing instead of hourly pricing (so no need to ask our hourly rate). Doing so allows you to know exactly how much you’ll be paying for the project. You won’t have to worry about hourly rates and unexpected cost overruns. We prefer project pricing because charging by the hour puts us in opposition to each other from the start; you are incentivized to keep my hours down so you pay less and we are incentivized to work as many hours as possible to profit more from the project. That’s not the type of relationship we like to have with our clients, so we price with value in mind and set the price from the start.
We offer a choice of branding packages and web design packages, each with a set of deliverables greater than the next. These packages vary based on the scope of work with at least one package that fits your budget range today.
**A standard web design project starts from RM2,800 to RM 8,000 and can go up to RM 18,000, it depends on the complexity of the website.
**The typical brand identity project ranges between RM 9,500 and RM 25,000
The standard payment plan requires a 50% of the total project price as deposit upon agreement signing, and the remaining 50% to be paid to the designer upon completion of the project and before original artwork is supplied to the client. **Discounts of up to 5% are also available for payment in full at time of the contract signing.
If you are like us, you hate surprises. So we like to minimizes the unexpected as much as possible. If we are doing visual design work (which is likely) then we’ll include a moodboard to help define the direction we want to go in and give you a sense of what we are going to deliver. A moodboard is a collection of images that will give you an overall idea of the design direction we will be taking. Think of a Pinterest board of related designs which we draw inspiration from.
When we present the design choices, we present them in context so you’ll have a really good idea of what your brand will look like in the real world. So for example, if we are designing a new wine label, we’ll present the design mocked up on a wine bottle instead of showing you a 2-D image of the label.
We use Dropbox to keep everything organized and store any files related to the project; logo files, documents, presentations, etc. What’s nice about this is that you’ll always have access to your project files when you need them. If you’ve ever needed a file only to find that the person in your organization that has access to them doesn’t work for you anymore, then you’ll appreciate being able to be in control of all of your assets.
